How many times have we made Jesus look like an idiot??

Don't worry, I'm not talking about YOU or ME!! we're PERFECT!!

Never forget what Jesus did for you. Never take lightly what
it cost Him. And never assume that if it cost Him His very
life, that it won't also cost you yours.
-Rich Mullins-

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital
is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed
if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of
capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
-Abraham Lincoln-

There is nothing wrong with men possessing riches.
The wrong comes when riches possess men.
-Billy Graham-

A nation that continues year after year to spend
more money on military defense than on programs
of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.
-Martin Luther King, Jr.-

Almost always, the creative dedicated
minority has made the world better.
-Martin Luther King, Jr.-

I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility
against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.
-Thomas Jefferson-

Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.
-George Washington-

"And this is what I have come to think: That if I want to
identify fully with Jesus Christ, whom I claim to be my
Savior and Lord the best way that I can do that is to
identify with the poor. This I know will go against the
teachings of all the popular evangelical preachers. But
they are just wrong. They're not bad, they]re just wrong.
Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little
niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little
wife and your perfect little children in your beautiful little
house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere
near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus
loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken "
-Rich Mullins-

We are not cisterns made for hoarding, we are channels
made for sharing.
-Billy Graham-

Radical changes in world politics leave America with a
heightened responsibility to be, for the world, an example
of a genuinely free, democratic, just and humane society.
-Pope John Paul II-

In the last analysis, the individual person is responsible for
living his own life and for "finding himself." If he persists in
shifting his responsibility to somebody else, he fails to find
out the meaning of his own existence.
-Thomas Merton-

The biggest human temptation is to settle for too little.
-Thomas Merton-

We do not exist for ourselves.
-Thomas Merton-

Pervading nationalism imposes its dominion on man today
in many different forms and with an aggressiveness that
spares no one. The challenge that is already with us is the
temptation to accept as true freedom what in reality is
only a new form of slavery.
-Pope John Paul II-

An individual has not started living until he can rise above
the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the
broader concerns of all humanity.
-Martin Luther King, Jr.-

As we must account for every idle word, so must we account
for every idle silence.
-Benjamin Franklin-

Government of the people, by the people, for the people,
shall not perish from the Earth.
-Abraham Lincoln-

You can't be evangelical and associate yourself with
Jesus and what he says about the poor and just have
no other domestic concerns than tax cuts for wealthy
people.
-Jim Wallis-

When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is
lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is
lost.
-Billy Graham-

As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master.
This expresses my idea of democracy.
-Abraham Lincoln-

When we see people suffer, it is our duty as followers of
Jesus to seek a solution, if we can unite for wars, why
can't we unite for social and economic justice, we must
act as a community making sure all are treated fairly.
-me-

How can we think we can act as no more than loosly
connected individuals with no common interest? with no
God given human rights and claim to be patriotic, how
can we say we are NOT our "brother's keeper" and claim
to follow Jesus!

"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out
demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them
plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

if progressives would go back to church.... and grin and
bear it..... the people they thought were idiots, usually will
end up being great Godly people. they need to see the
truth.

I have heard some fellow Christians state that it should be the churches who take care of the poor and the oppressed instead of the government..that taxation is stealing from the rich. My response is this.... If the WE are willing to help the needy... and are capable of doing it... WHERE ARE WE NOW? WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE CURRENT SUFFERING NOW? please ... anyone... how will we explain this to God!!

Christianity should not be promoting the interests of the wealthy and the powerful

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.'"
-Matthew 25:41-45

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."
-"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

I'm not understanding this group's description. Is this a political/social interest group?

Think of us as a group trying to get Christianity back the way it was meant to be, with all the compassion of Christ yet with the unwavering sense of justice shown by the Father. I can't say what the original founder had in mind. I can only tell you what it is now, a group that concentrates on righting the injustices it's members see not through violence or demonstration but through enlightenment. Other than that we're a pretty standard Christian group.

sent an angel to watch over you last night but it came back. I asked “why?” The angel said “angels don't watch over angels.” Twenty angels are IN your world. Ten of them are sleeping, nine are playing, one is reading this message. Send this to ten friends including me. I guess if I don't get it back I'm not one of them. As soon as you get five replies, someone you love will quietly surprise you. Please read, not joking. God has seen you struggling with something. God says its over. A blessing is coming your way. If you believe in God send this message on. Please don't ignore it. You are being tested. God is going to fix two things BIG tonight in your favor. DROP Everything and pass it on. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. Don't break this chain. Send to 14 friends in 10 minutes. It's not that hard

2 things... 1 we are not OccupyWallStreet. 2 even Jesus fought for what he believed in hence the episode where he cast the money changers out of the market with a cattle whip.

1) Sorry, it's hard to see the distinction when the names and the messages are so similar.

2) He chased the money changers out of the temple, not the market. And he didn't try to kill/rob/rape/beat anybody when he did it.

As to point 1) there are people who come to this group with a VERY-FAR-LEFT mentality, some trying to sound like they own the place. Then there's people like me who's more "Right" minded than that who saw the mission statement and saw a glimmer of truth in it. FYI <---- Co-Founder/PhdTd/20 Year Veteran Missionary.

As to point 2) so you're saying there IS a difference between Christians and the World! Amazing that you can see what others can't. Some use the "Occupy Movement" label as an excuse to lash out at everyone and everything. That's not what it was supposed to be about. It's about getting things back to the way they're supposed to be instead of accepting compromises that doom us to failure. THIS group, as I understand it, is about getting Christianity BACK to the way GOD intended it to be.
